Now more than ever, children are living a very sedentary lifestyle. With recent online schooling and limited activities, it can be hard to get the recommended amount of physical activity daily. Physical activity guidelines for school-age kids recommend that they get 1 hour or more of moderate to strong daily physical activity. It is important to include both aerobic and strength building exercises to get the most overall impact.
There are many benefits to participating in physical activities. Kids learn about sportsmanship, setting goals, meeting challenges, teamwork, and the value of practice. Kids who enjoy sports and exercise tend to stay active throughout their lives. Furthermore, staying fit can improve how kids do at school, build self-esteem, prevent obesity, and decrease the risk of serious illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease later in life.
The sooner you can introduce healthy habits to your child, the better! Here at Gravity, we strive to make fitness and exercise fun. As your child learns to enjoy physical activities, they are more likely to continue this behavior into adulthood.
Not sure how to start? Gravity can help! We offer gymnastics and ninja classes for school age children. Besides learning specific gymnastics or ninja skills, these classes incorporate both aerobic and strength building exercises that can benefit the whole body.
In addition to our gymnastics and ninja classes, Gravity offers programs that can help increase the amount of physical activity your child is getting.
